People in Dubai never seem to shy away from partying. That’s what has kept us busy the past ten days. Without doubt , last week was the craziest week of the year. For the first time, Dubai witnessed the best of east and west in one day !
With concerts like YO YO HONEY SING and PITBULL happening around time , it was impossible to stay at home and chill on the weekend . Pitbull created a rage in the Trade Center when he made the entry in his signature style. The performances were good and many people believed that this is what Dubai had wanted for a long time. But for us , the shining star of the concert was not Pitbull . We really loved the performance of Karl Wolf , especially his song called,”Yallah Habibi”. The crowd strength was not as expected though.
YO YO HONEY SINGH was an even bigger event. This happened at AKS Velvet Undergroud, Two thousand five hundred fans were waiting for the current bhangra icon . It was the first time in the history of the desi clubbing scene that Dubai police had to intervene and close the computer street for ten minutes so that Honey Singh could enter the hotel . When he made an appearance he was greeted with 2000 screams and in return, he made sure he did justice to his fans . Apart from the 2000 fans, there were 500 fans waiting outside and hoping to get into the club. But , the capacity of the venue was only 1500.This was the only drawback of the show.
The show was organised by Koncept Designs and Mirchi Events and the PR was done by Raja. The organisers some how managed to pack 2000 fans into the venue like sardines. There were 500 dejected fans waiting outside the gate but the organisers were not able to do anything. Well, you cant blame the organizers because nobody knew that Honey Singh was so popular in Dubai. I am sure next time when such a show is organized the organizers will keep the artist's popularity in mind. Finally, we have a new punjabi star loved by Dubai . This is everybody's excuse to take a break from Bouncing Billos & Amplifiers. (You know what we mean )
